Israel Orders Jordan Valley Families to Leave Homes on Eid Day

AL-MALEH, JORDAN VALLEY, October 14, 2013 (WAFA) – The Israeli military informed nine Palestinian families living in Wadi al-Maleh area of the Northern Jordan Valley to leave their homes all day on Tuesday, the first day of Eid al-Adha holiday, a local official said Monday.

Aref Daraghme, head of al-Maleh village council, said the military informed the families to leave their homes from five in the morning until mid-day because the army wants to hold training exercises in that area.

The families of 70 people, including 35 children, will spend the first day of the holiday in the open field away from their homes.

The Israeli army regularly forces Bedouin families to leave their homes in order to carry out exercises in the vicinity of their dwellings.

Palestinians fear the army is going to eventually order all these families out of the Jordan Valley, which Israel plans to keep control over in any future settlement.
