RAMALLAH, September 10, 2013 (WAFA) – While more than
150,000 guests have stayed in hotels in the West Bank during the second quarter
of this year, almost 40% were from European Union countries and only 9% were
Palestinian, the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said Tuesday.
The number of hotel guests was 27% higher than in the
previous quarter and 3% lower than in the second quarter of 2012, it said.
The room occupancy rate in the West Bank was 26% in the
second quarter of 2013, 19% higher than in the previous quarter and 16% lower
than in the second quarter of 2012.
The hotels are concentrated in the center - Ramallah area- and south - Bethlehem area - of the West Bank with 32 hotels in each region. Jerusalem had 29 hotels and the northern West Bank had 14 hotels, said the PCBS.
