RAMALLAH, September 10, 2013 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted Tuesday the Russian proposal on Syria's chemical weapons.

Al-Ayyam said that Syrian President Bashar “al-Assad ready to get rid of his chemical weapons arsenal to avoid a US military strike.”

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said: “A Russian proposal to avoid war and Rice says ‘we will hit Syria to warn Iran.”

Al-Quds said: “Russia proposes putting Syria’s chemical weapons under international supervision.”

The papers highlighted as well the visit of President Mahmoud Abbas to Britain and his meeting with British officials and lawmakers.

They also highlighted the new European Union financial assistance to the Palestinian Authority amounting to more than 50 million euros.

Al-Ayyam quoted secretary of the PLO’s executive committee, Yasser Abed Rabbo, saying that the negotiations have not made any progress and chances for their success are minimal and even nonexistent.

The paper said the Israeli authorities have allocated 5000 dunums of privately owned Palestinian land in the Jordan Valley to Jewish settlers.

It said in another story quoting a European Union official saying that there is no change in Europe’s position regarding illegal Israeli settlements.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida said a European delegation is going to be in Tel Aviv to discuss the EU decision regarding excluding settlements in the occupied territories from cooperation agreements with Israel.

Al-Quds highlighted the Israeli police attack on students from al-Quds University in the Abu Dis campus.

It also reported on the Israeli municipality digging of a ditch to separate the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiyeh from the French Hill settlement.

It said in another story that the Israeli Supreme Court is going to discuss on Tuesday enforcing the absentee property law on West Bank Palestinians who own property in Jerusalem.

Al-Quds also said that Hamas is getting ready to come up with a plan for joint rule in the Gaza Strip.
