RAMALLAH,
May 22, 2013 (WAFA) – The recent wave of Israeli demolition of Palestinian
homes in occupied East Jerusalem was the main front page story in the three
Arabic dailies on Wednesday.
The
main headline in al-Quds said: “As the campaign is expected to continue in all
neighborhoods, the home demolition massacre continues in Jerusalem.”
The
headline in al-Hayat al-Jadida said: “Plans for Judaization of al-Buraq area
and demolition of three homes in Jerusalem.”
Al-Ayyam
said: “The occupation escalates demolition of homes in Jerusalem; bulldozers
destroy several homes and dislocated 70 people.”
The
three papers printed pictures of the demolitions and the destruction left
behind.
The
papers also reported on the injury of the 13-year-old boy from Jalazoun refugee
camp near Ramallah who was shot by Israeli soldiers during confrontations near
the camp, which is adjacent to the illegal settlement of Beit El.
The
boy was reported in critical condition and later transferred to an Israeli
hospital due to the seriousness of his injury.
The
papers also reported on the meeting between President Mahmoud Abbas and the
Finish foreign minister in Ramallah. They said that Abbas is going to be in
Jordan on Sunday to participate in the World Economic Forum meetings.
Al-Hayat
al-Jadida said Israel extended the fishing area for Gaza to six miles after it
had reduced it to three as a punishment. Fishermen said the ban was imposed at
the beginning of the fishing season and lifted at the end of it.
