KHAN YOUNIS, October 8, 2012 (WAFA) – Israeli artillery Monday fired around 10 shells at the Qarara and Khuzaa areas east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip injuring five people, according to witnesses.
They said the shells, which caused damage to property in the area, were targeting fighters who were able to escape unharmed.
Witnesses said children who were in their way to school were frightened by the shelling that was heard throughout the area and schools were called off for the day.
An Israeli drone fired a missile at a motorcycle in Rafah Sunday night injuring 11 people, including five children.
As a result, Gaza fighters fired more than 20 makeshift missiles at southern Israeli towns most of them falling in open area except one that hit a house causing damage but no injuries.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad military wings claimed responsibility for the missiles, which they said came in retaliation for the new Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
