RAMALLAH, June 24, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Sunday highlighted the death of three Palestinians, including a child, in the Israeli airstrikes against the Gaza Strip on Saturday.
Al-Quds reported that the latest casualties bring the toll of Palestinians killed in the Israeli attacks against the Strip in a week to 16 and over 80 injuries, while Palestinian factions continue to retaliate with missile attacks targeting southern Israel.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida printed a photo of the weeping mother of the Palestinian child, Ali al-Shawaf, 4, who was killed in Saturday’s Israeli airstrikes against Gaza, before his funeral, while al-Ayyam and al-Quds printed photos of the destroyed site of a Hamas security building that was damaged in the airstrikes.
The opening of the Palestine Revolutionary Council ninth meeting on Friday, where President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and demanded a comprehensive and lasting calm was featured on al-Hayat al-Jadida’s front page.
Al-Quds reported that the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, announced the formation a new government amid the continuous violent government crackdown against protesters, as over 100 Syrians were killed on Saturday.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida featured an interview with head of the Palestinian Preventive Security Forces (PSF) in Bethlehem Wajih al-Rojoub, during which he said PSF thwarted 12 cases of Palestinians attempting to sell land to Israelis in the recent months.
