RAMALLAH, June 2, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Saturday highlighted the clash that took place on Friday at the borders between Gaza and Israel in which a Palestinian fighter and an Israeli soldier were killed in a shootout.
The Islamic Jihad member Ahmad Abu Nasr sneaked through the secured borders east of Khan Younis in an attempt to kidnap an Israeli soldier, engaged Israeli soldiers and was killed in the battle but not before killing one soldier.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported on the many injuries caused during the weekly Friday confrontations in various West Bank villages between Palestinian protesters against the wall and settlements and Israeli soldiers.
The papers printed photos of paramedics carrying one Palestinian who was injured during confrontations in Kufr Qaddoum, a town east of Qalqilia.
Al-Ayyam featured President Mahmoud Abbas’ intentions to call on the Arab League’s follow-up committee on the Middle East peace process for financial and political support in its meeting on Saturday in Doha.
