WAFA is planning a series of celebrations and has invited numerous guests from around the world, mainly representatives of international media, to attend the events.
The celebrations will include an opening festival on June 9, followed by a tour for the visiting guests of the Palestinian Territory to be able to see firsthand the Israeli settlements and the Apartheid Wall and their catastrophic impact on Palestinian life.
WAFA will also hold a photo exhibition and a gallery of replicas that depict WAFA’s history and present.
Hasan said WAFA is working on several projects that will usher in a brighter future for the agency without losing its identity or lapsing on its mission.
“The final image will come out of a modern, young, competitive agency, free of policies that affect freedoms,” he added.
President Mahmoud Abbas had signed a new law in May of 2011 giving WAFA the right to establish its own administrative and financial systems, free it from PA regulations regarding employment and operations.
WAFA has drafted bylaws for independent administration and financial systems, the organizational structure and job description for the workers, all of which will be presented before Abbas to sign them into law.
