Newspapers Review: Quartet’s Call to Aid PA Dominates Dailies

RAMALLAH, April 12, 2012 (WAFA) – The international Quartet’s call to continue financial support to the Palestinian Authority in the amount of $1.1 billion dominated the main headlines in the three Arabic dailies published Thursday.

Al-Quds reported on United Nations organizations filing a report to the Quartet highlighting concerns over the illegal existence of settlers in the West Bank and  settlement activities.

Dailies highlighted Israeli forces and settlers’ attempt to storm al-Aqsa compound during the Jewish Passover holiday under Israeli police watch, leading to clashes between Palestinians and settlers.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida also focused on Israeli settlers establishing an illegal outpost east of Ramallah.

Al-Quds reported on Israeli forces assaulting the participants in the 7th international Bilin conference in the city of Hebron while arresting 11 others.

The two dailies, al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida, printed a photo on the front page showing Israeli border guards forcing international activists participating in the Bilin conference in Hebron away from an area near the Ibrahimi mosque.
