RAMALLAH, March 31, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Saturday focused on the Palestinian marches marking the 36th anniversary of Land Day in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
The prime headlines reported on the violent Israeli crackdown against protesters, killing one Palestinian in the Gaza Strip and injuring hundreds across the Palestinian Territory.
Al-Ayyam printed pictures of clashes that broke out at Qalandia checkpoint between Jerusalem and Ramallah following the march, while al-Hayat al-Jadida featured a picture of Mahmoud Zaqqout, 19, who was killed during the march in the Gaza Strip, as well as a picture of Israeli horse-mounting police stomping over a Palestinian protester in East Jerusalem.
The newspapers also featured reports on demonstrations in Arab countries, particularly Jordan and Lebanon, to mark Land Day and in the Global March to Jerusalem.
Al-Quds editorial celebrated Land Day and stressed the Palestinians’ steadfastness and determination to achieve independence. The daily also tackled the Arab summit in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
