RAMALLAH, March 20, 2012 (WAFA) – Preliminary estimates at constant prices showed an increase of 10.7% in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the Palestinian Territory in 2011 compared to 2010, a press release by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) said Tuesday.
Preliminary estimates of quarterly national accounts for 4th quarter 2011 showed an increase of 2.2% in GDP compared to 3rd quarter 2011, and an increase of 11.2% compared to 4th quarter 2010.
In the West Bank, GDP increased by 2.9% during 4th quarter 2011 compared to the 3rd quarter 2011, while in the Gaza Strip, GDP increased by 0.5% during the same period, said PCBS.
GDP for 4th quarter 2011 at constant prices was $1,203 million for the West Bank and $439 million for the Gaza Strip.
GDP per capita for the Palestinian Territory at constant prices increased by 7.4% for the year 2011 compared to 2010 and reached $1,614. GDP per capita was $413 during 4th quarter 2011, registering an increase of 1.5% compared to 3rd quarter 2011, and an increase of 7.9% compared with 4th quarter 2010.
As for the West Bank, GDP per capita at constant prices was $509 during 4th quarter, showing an increase by 2.2% compared to 3rd quarter, and registering an increase of 2.9% compared with 4th quarter 2010.
In addition, GDP per capita for the Gaza Strip was $273 during 4th quarter, showing a decrease by 0.4% compared to 3rd quarter, while increasing by 25% compared with 4th quarter 2010.
