Cabinet Calls for End to Israeli Escalation against Gaza

RAMALLAH, March 14, 2012 (WAFA) - The Palestinian cabinet Wednesday called for an end to the Israeli escalation against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the death of 26 people, according to a statement issued following the weekly cabinet meeting.

The Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, condemned the Israeli airstrikes that targeted children and schools in the Gaza Strip.

It also condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

The Cabinet slammed the Israeli Local Planning and Building Committee’s approval of the construction of 55 housing units in Har Homa settlement, south of Jerusalem.

The Cabinet also held the Israeli government responsible for the life of Hana Shalabi, the Palestinian prisoner who has been on an open-ended hunger strike for 28 days protesting her arrest without charge or trial. The cabinet also called on human rights organizations to intervene to end the Israeli administrative detention.
