RAMALLAH, March 6, 2012 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies Tuesday highlighted US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting in the White House in which they discussed Iran’s nuclear program.
Al-Ayyam reported on Obama saying: “Our commitment to the security of Israel is solid rock.”
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida featured Netanyahu informing Obama that Israel will remain in charge of its destiny in facing Tehran’s threats.
The dailies printed photos of Obama and Netanyahu during their meeting.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported on President Mahmoud Abbas meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis, during which Abbas briefed him on the latest developments regarding the political process.
Al-Quds front page story highlighted the heated argument between Hamas and Fatah regarding responsibility for postponing the formation of the new government.
It focused on a new Israeli decision to expand Ramat Shlomo settlement, north of Jerusalem, by adding 185 housing units to it.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and Al-Quds reported on the striking prisoner Hana Shalabi’s refusal to end her hunger strike following an Israeli court decision to reduce her sentence by two months.
