RAMALLAH, March 4, 2012 (WAFA) - Sunday’s issue of Al-Ayyam newspaper reported on statements by Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki on the much-anticipated letter to the Israeli government regarding Palestinian conditions to resume negotiations.
The daily’s prime headline quoted al-Malki, in an exclusive interview with Al-Ayyam, saying Abbas will send the letter to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, after he returns from US, adding that the letter will define the peace requirements and will request limited answers.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted on its front page Abbas’ interview with the Qatar-based al-Jazeera satellite news channel broadcast on Saturday, during which he expressed frustration due to the lack of Arab financial aid to East Jerusalem.
Al-Quds’ main story said Israel handed notices to Palestinians in al-Eizariya, a town east of Jerusalem, to take over vast areas of land for the construction of an Israeli road, parts of which will be built in area B, under Palestinian administrative control. The daily printed a map of the road path.
Al-Quds was the only newspaper to highlight an interview of the Jordanian King Abdullah II with a Turkish newspaper, during which he said that Arab uprisings increased Israel’s isolation, adding that Hamas movement has no offices in Jordan.
The three dailies quoted Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar denying allegations that Hamas cut off its relations with the Syrian regime, stressing that Hamas hopes the regime will solve the problems with the people.
