JOHANNESBURG, January 8, 2012 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday that Israeli leaders claim to accept the principle of the two-state solution but they make every effort to foil it.
Abbas said in a speech read by Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki at the African National Congress centennial celebrations in the South African city of Bloemfontein that the only way to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is to end occupation and implement the two-state solution.
He indicated that Israel considers the Palestinian Territory as “ disputed land,” in total disregard to United Nations and international resolutions that consider it occupied.
What is more dangerous is that Israel attempts to Juadize occupied East Jerusalem and annex it to Israel, he added.
Abbas emphasized that Palestinian demand that Israel should stop all forms of settlement activities in the West Bank and East Jerusalem before resuming negotiations is not a pre-condition but an Israeli obligation.
