International Conference on Jerusalem in January, says Arab League Official

CAIRO, December 10, 2011 (WAFA) – Palestine’s ambassador to the Arab League, Mohammad Sbeih, Saturday told WAFA that an international conference in support of Jerusalem, which will be held under the supervision of the Arab League, will convene on January 16 in the Qatari capital Doha.

The conference will address Israeli violations in Jerusalem, such as assault against holy places and Palestinian heritage, destruction of cemeteries, and impact of Israeli policies on health and education in the city.

The conference also aims to rally international efforts to end Israeli practices and attempts to Juadize Jerusalem, added Sbeih.

The general direction of the conference will focus on exposing the reality of the Israeli occupation policies in Jerusalem and will call to activate the role of the civil society institutions to support the holy city, he said.

He warned against ongoing Israeli violations in Jerusalem, including the continuous excavations in various parts in the city, which threaten the numerous civilizations in the city, and building the so-called “tolerance museum” on the remains of Palestinian heritage.
