PARIS, December 8, 2011 (WAFA) – The Palestinian flag will be raised at UNESCO headquarters in Paris on Tuesday December 13 to mark Palestine’s admission to the Organization, Thursday said a press release by United Nations Information System on the Question of Palestine (UNISPAL).

The ceremony will be presided over by the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, Foreign Minister Riad Maliki and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova. The President of the UNESCO’s General Conference Katalin Bogyay and the Chairperson of the Organization’s Executive Board Alissandra Cummins will also be present, it said.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO) General Conference admitted Palestine as the Organization’s 195th Member on October 31. Membership became official on November 23, when Palestine signed and accepted UNESCO’s Constitution at the National Archives in London.
