PLO Affirms Impossibility to Resume Negotiations If Settlements Don’t Halt

RAMALLAH, December 7, 2011 (WAFA) - PLO Executive Committee, in a meeting headed by President Mahmoud Abbas affirmed the impossibility to start serious negotiations if settlement activities don’t stop, Wednesday said a statement issued by the committee.

The committee stressed that the Israeli approach confirms again the impossibility of resuming serious and effective negotiations without a complete halt of settlement activities in Jerusalem and in the West Bank, without clear and explicit recognition of the 1967 borders and the unity of the Palestinian body in the west bank, Jerusalem and Gaza.

It emphasized on the importance of honestly moving forward in implementing the national reconciliation file.

It called to deal seriously with the suggested issues, including the preparation for the presidential and legislative elections as well as for the national council membership, in addition to establishing a government to prepare for these elections.
