RAMALLAH, December 7, 2011 (WAFA) - Azzam al-Ahmad, Fatah Central Committee member Wednesday denied allegations of an agreement to form the new Palestinian government after the general elections scheduled for next May.
“It is illegal to conduct the elections under two governments,” he said.
He told Voice of Palestine that the new government issue will be discussed in a meeting scheduled for December 20 in Cairo, which will include all factions that signed the reconciliation agreement.
He added that the issue will also be discussed during President Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with Hamas leader Khaled Mishaal following the factions meeting.
Al-Ahmad said that some members of Hamas, particularly in Gaza, are spreading wrong and negative statements which contradict with what was announced by Hamas’ leadership abroad.
