RAMALLAH, December 6, 2011 (WAFA) – The meeting that took place midday Monday between President Mahmoud Abbas and US Assistant Secretary of State Jeffrey Feltman hit the front page of the Tuesday issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
In that meeting, Abbas stressed once again that negotiations with Israel will not resume before it stops settlement construction in the Palestinian areas, including in East Jerusalem, and accepts the 1967 lines as the borders of the future Palestinian state.
Other headlines discussed the situation in Syria, Iran and Egypt, while local news included reports on the demolition of houses in East Jerusalem under the pretext they were built without a permit.
The editorial in al-Quds discussed the situation in Israel, talking about its growing isolation abroad and internal problems.
The situation in the Arab world following the election results in Egypt was the subject of the opinions in al-Ayyam newspaper.
