RAMALLAH, November 30, 2011 (WAFA) – The Israeli authorities prevented Tuesday Palestinian Legislative Council members Fayez Sakka and Qais Abdul Karim (Abu Laila) from travelling and turned them back at the Allenby Bridge while attempting to cross it to Jordon, according to a press release.
Abdul Karim, a senior member of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), said in a statement issued by his office that an Israeli security officer approached him and asked him about his destination and when he told him that he was heading to participate and deliver a speech at an international parliamentary conference in Latin American, the officer told him he was not allowed to travel.
He condemned what he described as “arbitrary measure, which comes as part of the hysterical Israeli reaction to the Palestinian ongoing political successes, particularly following its recent success at international level.”
