American Hip Hop Group to Perform in Palestinian Territory

JERUSALEM, November 29, 2011 (WAFA) - The American hip hop group, Legacy, will hold a cultural exchange program in the Palestinian Territory from December 1 to 3 that will include workshops and  live concert performances, a US consulate press release said Tuesday.
“Legacy’s music about faith, love, struggle, and the pursuit of beauty in life and art, will be performed for audiences in Hebron, Abu Deis and Jerusalem,” said the press release.

Legacy’s alternative hip hop sound is influenced by various genres of music including West African percussive music, house, jazz, and break-beat.

“Combining unique talents and broad experiences, Legacy breaks language and cultural barriers through music,” it said.

Legacy’s visit is funded by a “The Rhythm Road: American Music Abroad,” and received special funding from the US Consulate General in Jerusalem.

Speaking about the program, the Consulate General’s Counselor for Press and Cultural Affairs, Frank Finver, said, “We are honored to host Legacy in their tour across the region and are pleased that audiences in Jerusalem and the West Bank will get to experience this unique exhibition of American hip hop culture.  Legacy makes beautiful music and we’re excited to share it with our friends here.”
