50 Million Shekels Allowed into Gaza

RAMALLAH, October 5, 2011 (WAFA) – The Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA) said Wednesday that 50 million Israeli Shekels were allowed into the Gaza banks to pay employees their salaries, according to a press release by PMA.

The release said, “PMA’s efforts were fruitful through calls made with all concerned parties to allow 50 million shekels into the Gaza Strip instead of the damaged currency that was transferred two weeks ago, which considerably reduces the financial crisis affecting the payment of public sector employees.”

PMA assured that talks are still taking place with the authorities concerned to allow bringing into Gaza more cash to solve the problem completely, it said.
