RAMALLAH, August 24, 2011 (WAFA) – The Palestinian cabinet said Wednesday that the remaining half of June’s salary for public employees will be paid on Thursday, according to a statement issued at the conclusion of the weekly cabinet meeting.
It said Prime Minister Salam Fayyad briefed the cabinet on the severe financial situation facing the Palestinian Authority and ways to overcome it.
The statement also announced a three-day Eid Al-Fitr holiday marking the end of Ramadan, which will start on Tuesday.
With the end of Ramadan, daylight saving summer time will resume in the Palestinian Territory on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
The Palestinian Territory returned to winter time with the start of the fast month of Ramadan to make fasting easier. Summer time is expected to continue until the end of October.
