Settlers Begin Expansion of Outpost near Nablus

NABLUS, August 16, 2011 (WAFA) – Jewish settlers Tuesday began expanding an illegal settlement outpost south of Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Ghassan Daghlas, head of the settlements file in the northern West Bank, said the settlers began putting up readily assembled houses in the outpost, adding that “they have placed four caravans on the site and are proceeding to add more.”

Expansion of this outpost is the latest settlement activity in the governorate of Nablus which witnesses ongoing attacks by radical settlers.

Daghlas explained that all field reports point to the settlement expansion operation covering 90% of settlements in the West Bank, and that constant building and infrastructure work is being done in these settlements.

In addition, Israeli approval was recently issued to build thousands of housing units in East Jerusalem and Salfit, which is seen as a counter action by Israel to foil the Palestinian bid to attain international recognition of an independent state in September.
