RAMALLAH, May 3, 2011 (WAFA)- An Israeli court Tuesday sentenced Yazan Dandan, 14, to 14 months in prison on charges of resisting the Israeli occupation, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Club.
In addition to the 14 months sentence, the court fined Dandan 2000 Israeli shekels and gave him 12 months suspended sentence for four years.
Yazan’s father said that the Israeli authorities prevented him from seeing or meeting his son after announcing the verdict. He said his son was arrested on April 11, 2010 and had been held in Remonim prison, a special Israeli prison for Palestinian minors.
He called on humanitarian organizations that deal with children’s issues and the International Committee of the Red Cross to immediately intervene to work on releasing his son.
