JERUSALEM, May 3, 2011 (WAFA) - Member of Fatah Revolutionary Council, Dimitry Diliani, Tuesday said in a press release that the Israeli media is exploiting the killing of the head of Al-Qaeda, Osama Ben Laden, to link the Palestinian struggle with Al-Qaeda.
He said Israel is trying to use this matter to gain political and international support in order to block international recognition of the Palestinian state in September.
Diliani said the Israeli media changed information about anti-occupation demonstration in Silwan, an East Jerusalem neighborhood, to make it appear as if it was a demonstration against the killing of Ben Laden.
He said the Silwan protest was part of the daily clashes with the Israeli forces against Israeli policies. He said newspaper headlines are changed to distort the facts.
Diliani stressed that the Israeli media is trying to falsify the reality in order to block the way in front of recognition of the Palestinian state in September because the Israeli authorities sees the media as a very important tool to get out from its diplomatic and political crisis and isolation.
Nevertheless, stressed Diliani, the Palestinian struggle is a humanitarian struggle sanctioned by international laws and UN Charter.
