Israeli Authorities Prevent Call for Prayer in Hebron Mosque

HEBRON, May 2, 2011 (WAFA) – The Israeli Authorities prevented calls for prayer from Ibrahimi mosque in Hebron 68 times in April, Monday said Sheikh Zaid Al-Jabari, director of Hebron waqf.

He told WAFA that the Israeli authorities prevented the calls on the pretext of disturbing the Jewish settlers in the occupied part of the city, where the mosque is located.

Jabari condemned what he described as the extreme procedures of the Israeli authorities against call for prayer in Hebron and considered them a violation of freedom of worshiping, which he said is protected by all international laws and regulations.

This policy aims to control the mosque in spite of the fact that it is an Islamic and Palestinian site, he added.
