PARIS, April 28, 2011 (WAFA) - Mayor of Paris and leader of  the French Socialist Party, Bertrand Delanoë, called on France on Thursday, to recognize the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Delanoë said in press release that he hopes that France and Europe will recognize the Palestinian state within the framework of international efforts to recognize a Palestinian state in the United Nations and considered that this recognition will facilitate the peace process.

He stressed that the Palestinian people are facing humiliation and suffering, and that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East of Jerusalem are a crime against peace and an attempt by the Israeli government to sabotage negotiations between the two parties.
