Israeli Forces Attack School, Arrest Students in Hebron

HEBRON, APRIL 21, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli soldiers Thursday surrounded a school located near Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, and arrested a Palestinian youth.

25 - 30 Israeli vehicles broke into the walls of Tariq Bin Ziad high school and attacked the school`s staff and students, said the school's principle.

Witnesses told WAFA that Israeli soldiers arrested Ayoub el-Rajaby, 17, and took him to an unknown location.

The school’s Arabic teacher said that Israeli soldiers fired live bullets, tear-gas, and sound-bombs at the students, causing several cases of unconsciousness.

He added that the soldiers chased the students back into the school when they were leaving it, and blew its doors, spreading panic and terror among students.

The school administration called on the students’ families to protect them, but Israeli forces stopped the families from entering the school.

On the other hand, soldiers raided Beit-awwa, Idna, Bani Na'im, Halhoul towns and Al-Fawar refugee camp, in Hebron, stopped vehicles and inspected passengers’ IDs which caused obstruction of traffic. They also set up several check-points in the governate and inspected houses, according to security sources.

Israeli soldiers yesterday night attacked a Palestinian child, Ehsan Salaymeh, 9, with guns butts in the Old City in Heron. Salaymeh was transferred to Hebron governmental hospital for treatment.
