RAMALLAH, April 21, 2011 (WAFA) - Fatah Commissioner for International Relations, Nabil Sha'ath, Thursday held Israel responsible for the failure of negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, in a meeting with the Paraguayan parliamentary delegation, headed by Victor Bogado, president of Paraguay's lower house of the Congress, in Ramallah.
Sha’ath said that Israel’s non-compliance with the resolutions of international legitimacy, settlements policy and Apartheid Wall are the reason behind the collapse of negotiations.
Regarding the Palestinian internal division, Sha’ath said that “it damages the Palestinian cause, and provides the occupation with excuses to continue on its aggression and siege on the Gaza Strip”.
He called on Hamas to accept President Mahmoud Abbas’s initiative and approve parliamentary and presidential elections, and considered the elections’ outcome as “binding to everyone”.
On his part, Bogado expressed the Paraguayan support for the Palestinians against Israeli oppression and racist practices, and for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders and with Jerusalem as its capital.
