JERUSALEM, April20, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli reinforced soldiers, Wednesday surrounded the sit-in tent in al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan, south of al-Aqsa Mosque, which led to casualties among young men.
Israeli soldiers clashed with the Palestinians and the participants after they surrounded the tent, using coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas, causing injuries and suffocation among them, according to witnesses.
Members of Defending Silwan’s Committee interpreted this Israeli step as a way to prevent from organizing the closing ceremony of Palestine Festival of Literature.
They added that the Israeli soldiers continued to close the main entrance of Silwan from Wadi al-Hilweh which is the closest area to al-Aqsa Mosque, and their military vehicles are still trooping the town.
