WAFA Monitors Incitement and Racism in Israeli Media

RAMALLAH, April 19, 2011 (WAFA) - Palestine News and Information Agency (WAFA) monitored incitement and racism against the Palestinians and Arabs published by the Israeli media between April 4 and 15.

‘Kikar Hashabat’ a religious website published a racist article by Meir Gal titled “Blood Freezes in my Veins when I See an Arab Talking to a Jewish Girl”, in which he said, “To be honest, the death of Juliano Mer-Khamis didn’t bother me at all. What provokes me the most is his life! Please excuse me! but for me it is absolutely prohibited for a Jewish girl to marry an Arab. What is even more dangerous than the spreading phenomena of Jewish women marrying Arabs is the Jewish acceptance of it”.

Gal added, “Actually, it is our fault. We let those Arabs in our lives. Our daughters work with them in the coffee shops, malls and public utilities. I feel like screaming or crying out loud! I admit, my heart breaks into pieces when I imagine an Arab close to a Jewish girl. My blood freezes in my veins when I see an Arab talking to a Jewish girl in a mall. Jews! what is happening to you! You divided the land of Israel, defiled the Jewish blood and sold your daughters to Arabs!”.

Menachem Klogman published a racist article against Arabs in Jaffa and Israel in “Hamodia”, a religious newspaper, under the title “Arabs Want to control Israel”. Klogman said, “The objection of our Arab enemies and their supporters on the Jewish ownership of Israel’s land, doesn’t only include the issue of Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem. Even if these issues were solved, the Arabs will object the Jews’ right to own the rest of the land and the conflict will go on. The Arabs never gave up on their dream of taking over Israel”.

He said that “the Arab leadership in Israel stated more than once that it will never give up its dream in retrieving Jaffa, Haifa, Acre, Safed, Ramle and other major cities inhabited by Arabs in the land of Israel. Arabs’ negotiations over the “right to return” are a part of their plan to control Israel and to send Jews back to Europe, that is if they don’t throw them in the sea instead!”.

Micahy Friedman, Good Moring Israel’s host, which is broadcasted on ‘Gale Tsahal’ Radio station, pointed out a section of the government’s collation deal suggested by ‘Yisrael Beiteinu’, an Israeli political party; which sets bringing down the government of Hamas as the main strategic target for the party.

Danny Ayalon, minister of Foreign Affairs, who was hosted in Good Moring Israel, explained the deal and how to achieve it, saying:  “There are many ways to do so; we can attack Hamas leaders and enter and exit the Gaza Strip extensively. There are many ways but we should not discuss our military tactics on the radio”.

Yariv Levin, Likud Knesset member wrote another racist instigating article titled “ Arabs and their Leadership are Betrayers” which was published in Israel Today newspaper against Arabs in Israel and their leadership. He attempted to deprive Arab leadership of their legitimacy and described it as “treacherous”.

Levin said that “Taleb El-Sana, Arab Knesset member, organized a protest in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza and called Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas’s leader, and talked to him while the enthusiastic protesters listened to their conversation. El-Sana obtained a new car and assigned personal assistants. He is still receiving a monthly payment and lately received a new cell phone to facilitate contacting his friend in Gaza!”.

He also targeted other Arab Knesset members as he accused Jamal Zahalka of participating in a publicity campaign in India to convince his hosts to boycott Israeli products. Hanin Zoabi was also accused of joining the terrorist flotilla to Gaza to support anti-Israel propaganda.

“Some Arabs living in Israel, mostly Christians, want to live as loyal citizens to the state. We must support them and work hard against betrayal and sympathy with the enemy”, he said that in an attempt to spread hatred between religions.

Amnon Lord titled his opening article in the religious Makor Rishon newspaper “Palestinians are committed to a (brutal Ideology)”, in which he said that firing at a school bus is “not only an awful terrorist act, but also a part of the brutal ideology adopted by the Palestinians in general and Hamas in particular, however, the ideology adopted by Israel stems only from its right to self-defense”.

He claimed that Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas helps in launching missiles against civilians in Israel and provides a diplomatic cover to the terrorist state in Gaza. Israel can’t authorize Fatah to control more areas because it will lead to more launching of missiles just like in Gaza, Lord added.

NFC website published a racist article by Hillel Weiss under the title “A Jewish State from the Nile to Euphrates is Essential to Achieve World Peace”, in which he claimed that Muslims want to take over the world and warned from their aim to establish an Islamic caliphate by establishing a Palestinian state.

Weiss said that “Islamic leaderships’ purpose is to occupy Europe through millions of immigrants who aim to impose Islam as a religion and a political culture in Europe by force”.

He added that “the European support to establish an Arab state in the land of Israel will not help in Europe’s war against Islam and in order to achieve such goal, they must support the people of Israel and their Jewish state which controls  Israel’s land from the Nile to Euphrates”.

Cello Rosenberg published an article titled “Military Operations to be Enhanced in Gaza” on the NRG website, in which he called on Israel to adopt military operations and political procedures in the Gaza Strip detering different parties from launching missiles against Israel.

He said that “the Israeli leaders’ war rhetoric; in which they suggested to burn Gaza, is ridiculous; the damage done to Gaza is severe ,however, it is not enough to make different Palestinian parties think twice before attacking Israel”.

Rosenberg suggested two solutions to solve this political dilemma; the first is to give Hamas a full recognition and to start a diplomatic dialogue with its leadership ( an unreal solution). The second is to deter Hamas, at least for now.

Every passing day without implementing violent strategies against Hamas is a lost day, he added.

Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper published an article written by Elyakim Haetzni under the title “Peace with Palestinians is impossible” in which he presented the latest events and changes in the Middle East. He discussed the Palestinian cause and peace possibilities between Palestinians and Israelis”.

He said that “the democratic desire of Palestinians in both Ramallah and Gaza is to terminate Israel”.

He added, “The Israeli co-existence with a sovereign Palestinian state will not last longer than Juliano Mer’s life in Jenin. Even if we sign peace agreements with Hamas and Jihad, someone else will come under a new name to destroy the impossible peace and start a mass war”.

NRG website published a news by Journalist Eric Bender titled “Israeli Curricula in East Jerusalem’s Schools”, in which he pointed out the lack of a full Israeli supervision over the Palestinian curricula in East Jerusalem.

Bender quoted Alex Miller, Yisrael Beiteinu Knesset member and Chairman of the Education and Sport Commission of the Knesset, who said, “It is ridiculous that Israel funds educational institutions and unofficial schools whose curricula is unknown”, explaining that teaching methods and curricula must be unified in the educational institutions in East Jerusalem.

Han Ben-Eliyahu wrote a racist article under the title “Nazi Palestinians” in which he claimed that the Israeli army doesn’t serve the Jews’ interests but protects the Palestinian people who he described as (Nazi)”.

He said, “The Israeli military has turned from an army that protects Israeli people, land and state into an army that protects the government which supports Nazi Palestinians”.

He instigated against Palestinians by saying, “ Oh! how poor are the Israeli Soldiers who sleep in the desert to protect the Nazi Palestinians who invade Jews’ lands and fire at their cars and children”.

NFC website also published an article by Dudu Elhara in which he incited against Arabs in Israel who he described as the “mortal enemy”. He refused to consider Arabs as Israelis or define them as Palestinians living in Israel; because “there has never been and will never be a Palestinian nation”.

Elhara added that some people’s persistence to consider Arabs as Israeli citizens must not affect reality; Arabs in Israel are an isolated community. On the other hand, the religious Jewish community is isolated, nevertheless, it shares the same common Jewish roots with the Israeli society, unlike Arabs, he explained.
