Settlement to Compensate Family of Worker Killed by Guard

JENIN, April 6, 2011 (WAFA) - The settlement of Vitse’il agreed to compensate the Daragmeh family in the Jenin area for the killing of a member of the family by the settlement security guard.

The family’s lawyer, Muhammad Dahlah, said a deal was reached to pay the family 750,000 Israeli shekels in compensation. A court had also ordered the guard to do 200 hours of community work.

The worker, Raiq Daragmeh from the village of Tayaseer near Jenin, was killed in 2005 when a car he was going home in stopped at the side of the road for passengers to perform prayer on the street.

The settlement security guard, Shlomo Adir, came to the workers and asked them about the person who entered the green houses. The guard opened fire in the air and when Daragmeh came out he shot and killed him at close range.

Dahlah said the guard killed an innocent man and a father of a Palestinian family.
