Return of Palestinians in Libya Continue

ALEXANDRIA, April 5, 2011 (WAFA) – Palestinian consulate general in Alexandria Tuesday announced the return to Gaza of another group of Palestinians who were stranded  at Salloum land crossing between Egypt and Libya. The group was taken directly to the Gaza Strip.

According to a statement by the embassy, the Egyptian authorities allowed the transfer of 18 Palestinians stranded on the Egyptian border into Gaza accompanied by a staff from the consulate.

It said that 80 Palestinians carrying refugee documents were still stuck at the Salloum land port hoping to allow them to leave Libya to return  to Gaza.

The Palestinian embassy in Cairo also announced the return of 23 Palestinians who were stranded previously outside the Egyptian borders to Gaza.

A total of 273 Palestinians traveled  on Monday from Gaza to Egypt, while 126 left Egypt to Gaza via the Rafah land crossing.
