Israel to Prevent Solidarity Fleet from Reaching Gaza

JERUSALEM, APRIL 4, 2011 (WAFA) – While humanitarian organizations are preparing Freedom Flotilla 2 to sail to Gaza later in May in order to break the four year long Israeli siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, Israel prepares to prevent it from reaching Gaza.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz said Monday that Israel will call on nations to convince them not to allow the ships to leave their ports.

Netanyahu has also asked the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, to stop the flotilla from sailing to Gaza.

On the other hand, the Israeli navy has intensified its training on how to control the ships by force as was the case when the navy attacked the first Freedom Flotilla on May 31 killing nine Turkish nationals who were on board of the Mavi Marmara, said Haaretz.

The Israeli military intelligence was gathering information on the international activists who will participate in the fleet.
