RAFAH, March 2, 2011 (WAFA) – Israeli gunboats opened fire Tuesday night at Palestinian fishing boats in Rafah, south of Gaza Strip, injuring at least one fisherman, according to local sources.
They said Israeli forces shelled the pier without any apparent reason injuring a fisherman and setting a boat on fire. Two other fishermen were reported missing.
The injured man was transferred to hospital for treatment. He was described in moderate condition.
The Israeli navy regularly shoots at Palestinian fishing boats at the Gaza coast and prohibits fishermen from going beyond three miles into the sea as part of the Israeli blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007.
