Fatah Efforts Disturb Netanyahu’s Government

JERUSALEM, March 1, 2011 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement Tuesday considered that political efforts by Abbas and the PLO have put Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government in a very difficult international situation.

Fatah Revolutionary Council member Dimitry Diliani said Netanyahu told prominent leaders in his Likud party that Israel was facing a difficult political and international reality despite of the US veto of the Security Council resolution which condemned settlement activities.

He said that “this is an obvious admission that the political efforts of the PLO and the Arab support have put Israel in a difficult international situation because of the continuous occupation since 67, particularly in Jerusalem.”

He said that the PLO’s solid attitudes, the President’s credibility on international, Arab and national levels, the cohesion between the people and leadership and the continuous nonviolent struggle enabled official and public Palestinian diplomacy to communicate its message with the world and to gather official and public support against the occupation violation of human and national rights.

He pointed out that the sophisticated mechanism to build the Palestinian state by Prime Minister Salam Fayyad boosted Palestinian credibility.

He added that “despite of the inner and external conspiracy against our national cause through targeting the Palestinian leadership, our leadership refused to conduct any negotiations with the occupation authorities without ending its settlement activities, especially in occupied Jerusalem.”
