RAMALLAH, March 1, 2011 (WAFA) - The Palestinian Central Elections Commission announced in a statement Tuesday the durations and dates of the local elections process.

 It said the first stage is updating the voters registry which starts on 9^th March for six days. This is the first field operation concerning local elections, followed by the publishing and the objections which begin on 9^th April.

The statement added that the day of elections will be on 9^th July, with the announcement of the preliminary results the next day and the final results within 72 hours. It declared that “these electoral processes will fail without media coverage; we need local media assistance to create early interest in the electoral process.”
