Palestine Demands UN to Stop Israeli Destructive Measures

GENEVA, July 22, 2009 (WAFA)- Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations, Ibrahim Khreishi, at the United Nations International Meeting on the Question of Palestine that practical measures be taken to stop Israeli destructive and illegal policies and practices.

In a speech he pronounced on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas, Khreishi added: “not standing in the face of such practices, the viability of the state of Palestine and peace and stability opportunities in our region.”

He continued: “Although solving the Palestinian Cause is a vital priority to the Middle East, it has actually become a global interest,” pointing that there is an international consensus on the necessity of realizing a just permanent comprehensive solution is not only to render making peace and security a fact on the ground in the Middle East, but also to make peace and security flourish afterwards.”

Khreishi affirmed, in the President’s speech, that the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is still very dramatic, due to the continuation of Israeli repressive and illegal practices and policies.

He stated: “the international community must ensure the political will essential for advancement toward peace, justice, respecting human rights and enhancing stability and security.
