RAMALLAH, June 17, 2009 (WAFA)- Germany will be supporting the Palestinian Bar Association with €101,000 within the scope of the European Police Mission, EUPOL COPPS.
In a press release issued, Tuesday, the German Representative office in Ramallah said that the amount is a part of the €15 million, which Germany donated in summer 2008, for the reform of the Palestinian civil police and the judiciary.
In this context Germany is pursuing a double impact strategy: As it becomes apparent, that with the investment into the training and equipment of the Palestinian police, access to justice for Palestinian citizens has to simultaneously be strengthened. Therefore the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others, is supporting the Palestinian Bar Association in the construction of regional libraries of law, which will allow easy access to current technical literature for Palestinian lawyers.
