Sheikh Abu Ajwa told WAFA that the incident was 'a consequence of the continued incitement against Arabs and Muslims by Israeli senior politicians and Members of the Knesset.'
He added that the Israeli Occupation Authorities violation of Islamic and Christian cemeteries, and holy sites and the un-deterring punishments against the offenders encourage the repetition of such violations and send a message that mosques can be desecrated.
Abu Ajwa expressed his concern that such offenses, if left unpunished could evolve and turn into violent or armed aggressions, which lead to confrontations between Palestinian citizens and Israelis in the city.
