CAPE TOWN, April 16, 2008, (WAFA)- The Egyptian parliamentary delegation called for accelerating the implementation of the Road Map plan in preparation for granting the Palestinians their legitimate rights.

The Egyptian delegation, participating in the meeting of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in South Africa, headed by Dr. Ahmed Fathi Sorour, called for including the role of parliaments in halting the deterioration in the humanitarian areas of tension, especially ending the siege of the Israeli occupation of Gaza and to accelerate the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Arab and Islamic delegations participating in the meeting affirmed their support for the Egyptian proposal, stressing the need to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and enable it to self-determination based on the resolutions of international legitimacy.
