Moussa Welcomes New Cabinet
CAIRO, March 15, 2007 (WAFA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa Thursday welcomed the announced new Palestinian national unity government as a good step towards an end to inter-Palestinian political disputes.
Moussa hoped in a press release that such a step would help the Palestinian side refocus on their basic issue notably, the establishment of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He added "The formation of the Palestinian national unity government is the key to Palestinian stability and a peace process led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on behalf of all the Palestinians." Meanwhile, the Arab League chief urged the Quartet and international community to end the international boycott of the Palestinian people.
He also called on the abductors of BBC Gaza correspondent Alan Johnston to free him immediately, saying that such condemnable acts against foreign reporters and media representatives were "unacceptable under any circumstances.
