Ereikat Comments on President, Israeli PM Meeting<br>- Differences and Difficulties during the Talks<br> - Abbas Expressed the Need to Transfer Bush Vision into Realistic Political


JERUSALEM, March 11, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas held on Sunday a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, in west Jerusalem.

Following the meeting, Head of the PLO Negotiation Affairs, Dr. Saeb Ereikat, described the meeting as "positive", hinting that there were differences and difficulties during the talks.

Ereikat revealed that the issues that were discussed emerged from the two leaders' preparations to implement the Road Map and to realize US President George Bush's vision for quick solution.

He also expressed the Palestinian side readiness to continue channel of communications at the level of the President and also through the legitimate channels.

The President, he added, expressed the need to transfer that vision [Bush vision] from a vision into a realistic political track. "The process that will lead to the full implementation of the Road Map, which is the objective of the peace process, and to end the occupation that began in 1967," Ereikat said.

President Abbas explained the Arab initiative which was adopted by the League of Arab States in 2002 in Beirut, and discussed number of issues concerning the Palestinian prisoners, settlements, the Wall and Jerusalem.

"Other issues that were discussed in the meeting were the passages of Rafah and Karni." Ereikat added.

He revealed that the two leaders affirmed the necessity to exert maximum efforts in order to normalise the situation in Rafah terminal.

The President also talked to the Prime Minister about the Mecca agreement and the formation of the national unity government.

The issue of the western fund was raised, as well as the Palestinian revenues held by the Israeli government.
