RAMALLAH, March 11, 2007 (WAFA) - Dr. Rafiq al-Husseini, Head of the President's Office affirmed Sunday that the issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails is the title of peace in the forthcoming stage.

His remarks came during a meeting of Fateh members in Ramallah in support of Fateh leader Marwan al-Barghothi and in a preparation of Palestinian Prisoner Day in 17th next month.

Husseini reiterated that the world should realize that there are 11000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, including leaders who could contribute for achieving peace in the region if they are released.

He added that President Mahmoud Abbas has spared no efforts to support the activities of national plan to defend the prisoners and the Palestinian Prisoner Day.

April 17th is Palestinian Prisoners Day, a date to remind the public that thousands of Palestinian prisoners are imprisoned in Israeli jails under extreme difficult circumstances, where they are exposed to various forms of torture and inhumane treatment.
