President Describes his Meeting with French President as Fruitful
PARIS, February 24, 2007, (WAFA)-President Mahmoud Abbas described on Saturday his meeting with French President Jacques Chirac as fruitful.
Following the meeting, President told reporters, gathered at the yard of Elysee Palace that President Chirac has understood the Palestinian stance and he would exert efforts before the European Union to lift siege imposed on the Palestinian people and reach an adequate solution to the Palestinian cause.
In response to a question whether the Quartet would lift siege on the Palestinian people, the President said that there are some hopes in light of the Quartet's meeting in Berlin, describing its stance as "reasonable".
As for Israeli stance on national unity government, President said that there no exit but to continue the peace process and all should accept the Palestinian agreement in Mecca and the letter of commissioning is a positive answer to all international legitimacy questions.
