Abbas: Trilateral Meeting with Rice and Olmert was Difficult
AMMAN, February 20, 2007, (WAFA)- President Mahmoud Abbas described Tuesday the trilateral meeting with US Secretary of Stae, Condoleezza Rice and Israeli PM Ehud Olmert as "difficult".
After meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan, in Amman, President told reporters that the trilateral meeting did not fail but it was difficult, asserting that Olmert misunderstood Mecca agreement.
Abbas said that he is very convinced with Mecca agreement which was a real expression of the Palestinian interest.
President added that he discussed, with King Abdullah II, the current situation and the results of his meeting with Rice and Olmert, revealing that he would meet the Israeli PM soon, marking no specific date.
On his part, King Abdullah II asserted that the efforts of Palestinians should emphasize on the success of Mecca agreement.
He added that the Jordanian diplomacy would focus on ending the international siege on the Palestinian people and strengthening the Palestinian attitude under the term of the road map plan and the two-state solution.
President Abbas arrived in Amman, the first station, of a tour of European capitals in a bid to convince key allies to give Mecca Accord a chance and ease a crippling aid freeze.
