Grand Mufti Condemns Israel's Decision to Resume Excavations in Al-Aqsa
JERUSALEM, February 12, 2007 (WAFA) - Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, Mohammed Hussein condemned Monday Israel's decision to resume excavation works under the holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Mufti called in a press release upon Arab and Muslim regimes for immediate intervention to save the Mosque.
He said that the Arab and Muslim governments should do something to protect the Mosque, asserting that a real response must be delivered to Israel for its violations against the Islamic shrine in Jerusalem.
He also called upon international community to exercise its role to protect this Islamic and human legacy before it is demolished, which may threaten the international and regional security and peace.
