JERICHO, August 16, 2006 (WAFA) - Head of the PLO Negotiations Affairs Department, Dr. Saeb Ereikat renewed Wednesday his call for exerting the utmost efforts to end the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people.

His comments came during a meeting, in Jericho, separately with the British General Consul in Jerusalem, Mr. John Jenkins, the US Consul General in Jerusalem Jake Walles and a delegation of the Japan International Cooperation Agency "JAICA."

Ereikat called for ending the Israeli aggressions, particularly against the destruction of the Gaza strip (GS) infrastructure and institutions, targeting houses, assassinations and siege that deepen the Humanitarian crisis in GS.

He urged the international community to adopt a comprehensive political move to end the Israeli occupation and to realise a lasting, just and comprehensive peace through the implementation of the international resolutions as well as establishing the independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital.

He also called for continuing financial aid to the Palestinian people, rebuilding the infrastructure, especially that which was destroyed by the Israeli war machine.
